Hs Math: Ms. Santiago and Ms. Mattos

Grade 6

The 6th Graders have just finished their unit on Data Displays. As an end of unit assessment, the students have had a chance to create their own survey, distribute their surveys, collect data, and analyze data they collected. They were given Essential Questions to reflect their key inquiries as they go through the process of data collection and analysis. These are:

  • Why is it important to analyze and interpret graphs and tables?
  • Why is sample size/population important to consider when conducting a study?
  • What are the errors? What are the possible errors you may come across in your study?
  • What are the variables or factors in your study that may affect your findings?
  • What conclusions can you make about your findings?

Students proudly presented their findings to their classmates. They will be given a chance in the next meetings to reflect on ways to improve their data collection for a more accurate data presentation.

Prealgebra 7

Students in Prealgebra are in the midst of exploring the unit called Rational Numbers and Proportions.  This unit is particularly important as it involves vocabulary and concepts that will prove to be most helpful as they move on to higher level mathematics.

Currently, your children are familiarizing themselves with the real number system which is integral to the reinforcement of computing with all numbers such as natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, and rational numbers.  In fact, they have learned a song about rational numbers that has helped them to fully understand the role each type of number plays in the Real Number System.  Ask them to sing it for you!

Be careful as it is one of those songs that “stays with you.”

Algebra 1

As we build the foundation and skills in Algebra in preparation for higher mathematics, the past four months, our class has focused on the properties of real numbers, solving  linear equations, and graphing  linear equations and functions using several methods.  Students are now writing equations of linear functions in different forms. Applications of these concepts are always incorporated in their learning by analyzing and solving real-world problems.

HS French (Pak Putra)

Time flies very quickly and it is already November!

Although the learning system is online, we are proud to offer the quality of teaching that results in the best educational outcome to all our students. Student attendance, participation and motivation are very necessary during videoconferencing for this classes. Enjoy the overview of our classes.

For French 1, students have learned basic vocabulary such as numbers, names of days, months, seasons, family members, adjectives, etc. They have also learned how to pronounce French words correctly. They are currently learning basic French grammar such as how to conjugate verbs and build sentences. Students are able to orally greet people, introduce themselves, and order a meal in a French café!

For French 2, students have the opportunity to activate some of the basic communication skills that they learned last year in French 1. In particular, they reviewed how to count, give the date, tell time, talk about the weather, describe various things they own, talk about their daily activities, and ask and answer questions.

In French 2, they have learned to give basic information about themselves and their family, name many professions, describe their friends, describe how they feel, talk about what they plan to do or what they have done, and how to make a telephone call. Now, they are learning how to describe their weekend activities, talk about their favorite foods and beverages, order in a French café or restaurant, and to shop for food in a French market.

In French 3, students learn communication tools for travelling abroad; they can making a train reservation, stay in a youth hostel, shop for things they need, aand ask for a variety of services. In addition, students will expand their communication and reading skills. They will also learn to express their thoughts more naturally and more effectively. They will increase their awareness of the francophone world and become more familiar with the many contributions that French-speaking people have made in the world of arts, sciences and great ideas.
