The first semester of school is almost a wrap! We are a little over 4 weeks away from Winter Break, which is scheduled to begin on December 15, 2018. Staff and students have been working hard the past few weeks. Please make sure you are able to log into PowerSchool to check your child’s grades and progress in his/her classes. A Final Exam schedule for Secondary School is underway and will be released to parents and the SIS community in early December.

We offered several Parent Workshops and Information Sessions for parents to become more familiar with the college/university admissions process, as well as Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exam timelines. We are pleased to offer a workshop on Being a Third Culture Kid/Family, which is coming up on November 27th from 8:15-9:45 a.m. in the Library.

Over the next few weeks, there will be a flurry of activity. Our talented students have been involved in many international events and great causes. Our students in Debate Club and Model United Nations (MUN) are excitedly gearing up to partake in international tournaments. Ten students will be traveling this weekend to a Debate Tournament in Beijing.

Our MUN team, with students from Grades 9-12, will be traveling to Singapore next week. I am proud to say the Seniors are hard at work on getting their college applications ready to send out to universities all over the world. Several students have been participating in service projects and fundraising for different worthy causes. NHS students have been busy preparing for the Aid in Action project.

As the holiday season starts, I want to wish you and your family very Happy Holidays and a restful, joyous Winter Break. Feel free to pop in any time to discuss events and initiatives in the Secondary School.
